You are part of RBCC
The church is not a building- it is people. If you come along on a Sunday, or even just some Sundays then we are delighted that you do so and we want to make sure you feel welcome every time.
Just by being part of the Sunday congregation, you make a difference to the life of the church. If that is what is appropriate for you just now, then we want you to relax and enjoy that.
Some of the church people are not well enough for the moment to be there on every or any Sunday. If that group includes you, then we value your prayers, interest and support for the work of RBCC
Ways to become involved more...
There are however ways to become more involved. We have a number of teams which make things happen and which could use your special abilities and gifts for the work of God.
The Techy Team
Every Sunday, and occasionally at other times during the week out Techy Team make sure that the computer, projector and sound system run well. Donald, Susan and Paul are on that team, but there is space for others also.
The Worship Team
The worship team prepares for Sunday services and incorporates a mixture of contemporary and traditional elements. The team at present includes Craig, Donald, Muriel and Lorraine. If you have a musical or vocal gift or even can play the spoons then you could be part of this team.
Every Sunday a dedicated team organised by Nancy Haggarty ensure a welcome at the front door, that the offering is uplifted and counted and tea served after the service. This willing team would love you to join them
The Children and Youth Team
This team provides teaching on a Sunday morning and runs Rock Solid on a Tuesday. Up to this summer this has been run by Katie helped out by Lian, Annie, Georgina, Matthew, David Burns and Ken. In the autumn Katie will be stepping back to focus on developing other work. Could you be part of this team?
The Youth Theatre (GYT & GAP)
Runs on a Wednesday evening. This year Nancy and Ernie are retiring. Could you help Helen McK represent RBCC in this important work?
If you are aged 16-25 we want your contribution to be recognised by the Millennium Volunteer Award.
The Pastoral Team
Organised by Freda we have a team of people who visit those who are unwell and need care and prayer.
The Leadership Team
The Leadership Team is responsible for developing the work of the church. They have a legal and spiritual responsibility to ensure that all aspects of the work of the church are developing and appropriate. The LT includes the Trustees – Betuel, Paul and Ken plus Muriel, and Katie.
The Finance Team make sure that money is banked, cheques are written and that the financial affairs of the church are in good order. This team includes Ailsa, Betuel and Ken with others helping in a consultancy role.
In the autumn of 2010 we hope to have a Careforce worker with us. His name is Leo and he comes from the Philippines. We need to raise about £2,000 in support for Leo and arrange accommodation for him. If you can help with either of these needs please speak to David.
There is a constant need for maintenance work on the church premises. We want to create a team who can be responsible for this. If you could be part of this please speak to ken.
Supporting the work of RBCC financially
The financial cost of running the church per year is almost £100,000. A large proportion of that is met through the donations given by church people.
As a church we come from a tradition that has encouraged tithing, that is a scriptural guide of a tenth of our income given to God through the church. Equally, we value the teaching of Jesus about the small amount given by the widow which was given in the right attitude.
This is simply a challenge to each of us to prayerfully review our giving to the Lord’s work at RBCC.
Envelopes are available to aid your giving while some church members give by bank transfer.
There is a way in which we can painlessly increase our giving. The Deed of Covenant scheme allows the church to claim from the government an additional 22p in every pound given by those who pay income tax. If you pay tax and are not part of this then it simply requires a form to be completed available from Ken.
